Sample Questions for K1 Interview

Here are some questions ask during a K1 interview in the US Embassy, Manila, Philippines. These questions are based on my interview and it is necessary for an applicant to expect weird questions as they test your relationship with your petitioner. Do not let the butterflies in your stomach rule you, remember if your intentions are true and sincere there is nothing to be nervous about.

Questions Asked By Filipino Rep

1. What's your name and date of birth?
2. Your Age
3. When did you meet and How did you meet?
4. When did you have a romantic relationship?
5. How many times did he visit you?
6. When was the first visit?
7. When was the last visit?
8. How long did he stay for 2nd visit?
9. Is he married before?
10. Does he have children?

Questions Asked By American Consul:

1. Petitioner's Name
2. How old is he?
3. How did you meet?
4. How old are you?
5. What's his job?
6. What kind of analyst and for whom does he work?
7. Where does he live?
8. Is he married before?
9. How many times did he visit you?
10. When was the last time you saw him?
11. How long did he stay here?

All you have to prove is that your relationship is genuine and you know the person you are going to marry very well. Remember to have an eye to eye contact with the interviewer as they can screen your honesty by looking at your eyes.

Steps in K1 Interview - Philippines

I'm thinking of posting this because somebody asked some tips how the K1 Visa interview in the US Embassy-manila set up like. This is the steps I had last year when I had my interview with the Consul of USEM. Hope this will help others who are going to have their interview.

First Step: Get Your Number - here they will collect your DS- forms. Reminder: DS- 156 should be signed. They collected my forms and gave me my priority number and wait for your name to be called for finger scanning. Numbers are being called or flashed on the screen board randomly.

Second Step: They called us for finger scanning and the lady was very nice. She asked for my name and priority number and found out that my CASE NUMBER was encoded wrong so she corrected it. After this go back to your seat and wait for pre-screener interview.

Third Step: Be attentive for your number to flash on the screen board and go to designated window. Don't worry girls the screen board beeps once they change numbers. My number flashed and i headed to Window 17. The pre-screener is nice and will speak to you in Tagalog so dont be nervous. I was shocked coz She has a very thick folder for my documents. She asked me quite tons of things.

Requirements asked from me:

NBI
Birth Certificate
CENOMAR

Then asked me for proof of relationship like pictures. I gave some of our pictures during first and second visit, marbe around 12 pictures. She asked for emails and then she said no need because we already have emails in our file.

She did not asked for any other proofs and documents. Advised me to go back to seat and wait for my number for Co interview. I was wondering how come she did not ask for AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT AND ITRs/W2 of my fiance. (The one they have was NOVEMBER 2006 dates, our lawyer provided them everything when they sent our petition to USCIS) I assumed they will ask for latest version (2006 ITR/W2 and latest notarized 134) but they didnt ask, so I didnt insist.

Fourth Step: Interview with the American Consul. My number was assigned to Window 27. I smiled to the CO and said GOOD MORNING MA"AM and she smiled back and asked me "How are you?" I was'nt nervous and told her "I'm doing great, thank you" Her voice is so soft and you have to listen very carefully to all her questions. Other's may find her slang and I make sure my ears are near the speaker so I can hear her clearly and look at her in the eyes once I reply.

FIFTH STEP: My name was called for Window 37. The guy returned the pics i gave to them, he gave me pink slip and advise to pay for DELROS and I asked him if im approved, he then check my papers and said Just wait for your VISA at home coz I not authorized to tell you and he's kinda smiling.

SIXTH STEP: PAID DELBROS for VISA Delivery

The Immigration Process

Finally we are now in 2 weeks waiting for my green card to arrive. After 2 years processed we will rest for another 2 years and then proceed to another paperworks again. We chose to apply for a K1 visa (fiance) because we believe that this is faster than k3 (spouse). We considered the process here in the US at least we are together unlike if we are apart there is too much aggravation to face. The hardest part of course is the wait time until being reunited.

Next steps after I received the GC is to apply for my state ID, report our marriage to the Philippine Consulate in DC, renew my passport into my married last name and get a learner's permit if ever I decide to take driving lessons. At least we are no longer worried about me not able to travel outside the US once the GC is on my hand.
