The Immigration Process

Posted on Thursday, May 15, 2008 by Avee

Finally we are now in 2 weeks waiting for my green card to arrive. After 2 years processed we will rest for another 2 years and then proceed to another paperworks again. We chose to apply for a K1 visa (fiance) because we believe that this is faster than k3 (spouse). We considered the process here in the US at least we are together unlike if we are apart there is too much aggravation to face. The hardest part of course is the wait time until being reunited.

Next steps after I received the GC is to apply for my state ID, report our marriage to the Philippine Consulate in DC, renew my passport into my married last name and get a learner's permit if ever I decide to take driving lessons. At least we are no longer worried about me not able to travel outside the US once the GC is on my hand.

Ex Convict Daughter

Posted on by Avee

The "Willie of Fortune" contestants yesterday are those who graduated high school validectorian and salutatorian. Looking at the contestant you can distinguish whom you want to win the grand prize and when we watch it we pick our choice. I want to win this girl whom looks so happy and natural despite of all the trials in life but unfortunately she was eliminated.

She never did ashame about her father as an "ex convict" because for her she believes that her father did not do it besides the father let them know that they have nothing to ashamed about as he is not guilty. Well anyway, I can't help my tears listening to her because it doesn't show on her face the trials that she is into at her very young age. She is 16 and has a guardian with golden heart who takes care of her. This little girl has to walk from their house (which according to her is mountain area in Rizal) going to school when she has no money (which most of us filipinas who are not from wealthy family can relate to this).

She is now going to college this coming school year and will take up B.S. Psychology in the P.U.P as we call the "iskolar ng bayan" university in Manila. When asked by Willie how is she gonna finish her course since she has no money to support the expenses she said, "I know God will always provide a way for me to finish the course and I believe I will graduate in college".

Lesson: Poverty is not a hindrance in aiming your dreams, when you want it and work for it you will definitely get is as long as you stay positive.

Happy Mother's Day and A New Mommy

Posted on Saturday, May 10, 2008 by Avee

Happy Mother's Day!!! Yet another mom have her first baby today my sister. The mom and baby are now both safe after the cs delivery as sister has diabetis and some complications the reasons why she can't deliver her baby in normal way. Happy to know that the baby is healthy. I haven't talk to them yet so I have no idea what's the name of the baby girl yet.

To all the mummies out there, please accept my warmest greetings to all of you. For me a mother is a hero to risk her life for another life.

The End of Injustice

Posted on Sunday, May 4, 2008 by Avee

There is one prison in the 60 minutes news that has been in jail for 27 years for a case killing his girlfriend. He got a wrong conviction and he is the 17th among prisoners in Dallas who have been set free because of the DNA test. I’m not sure if the lawyer is still studying and picks his case to reopen. They asked the guy named James if he pleaded guilty for the case and he said never because he is not guilty.

They took samples of his DNA and conducted some tests to match with the actual evidence on the night the girl was raped. Good News! His DNA is not match to the DNA collected from the actual crime. It was another guy who raped and killed his girlfriend who is also accused for sexual assault. He is now free and when asked why he did not plead guilty and wait for parole, he said he won’t admit a crime he never did.

The judge asked James that today he won’t get justice but what he will get is the end of injustice. I believe there are many prisons who are suffering inside the jail who are not really guilty to the crime. I was teary eyed watching the news because this guy lost his supposedly 27 blissful years but on the other hand admire his courage to get through all the mess he was involved to.

Maltreated OFW in Middle East

Posted on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 by Avee

Finally more than a hundred of domestic helpers from the middle east now arrive in Manila. They have smile on their faces and asking for the government to stop sending domestic helpers especially in the middle east as they are maltreated by their employers.

The response from the authority was, they don't promote sending dh anymore but caregivers who have professional training. Whether i't's CG or DH I don't see any difference as they have to serve their employers and that they can't still not stop them from beating them. Filipinos are hoping to work in other countries to get a higher pay and send them to their family back home to at least support them in their needs.

SIMPLE LIFE in the PHILIPPINES

Posted on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 by Avee

Many are dreaming to work overseas or migrate to other countries for a greener pasture which we can't blame them because of the current economy in the Philippines. In the history it used to be one of the richest countries in the world but now where does Philippines stand? Full of debts that even our "nail grandkids" have to pay them. Is there any chance that Philippines will stand out again? Why filipinos are dreaming to go to other countries?
Simply because opportunities in our own country is very limited.

When you ask most of the nursing students why they are taking the said course, I bet huge percentage is to go to US. Though in fact that's not the career they wanted to do in life. Correct me if am wrong but this is my opinion some of them are just force to take the course as a key to work overseas. There is once a kid in a tv show whom being asked why does she want to be a nurse and she said to work here in our hospital and take care of the sick people. Again there is a follow up question why not go to other country? She again said, almost everyone (nurses) wants to go to the US what about those sick filipinos? Who will take care of them? I hope this little kid wont change her mind as she see the reality in life.

Despite of all these, simple life in the Philippines is still the best. There is no place like home as we say, the rich culture and the simple life yet lack of everything. Many suffer but working to survive, I bet if there is enough jobs in our own country many would love to stay and not many cases of abused nannies from other countries.
